Restaurants
There are two main restaurants on the Aurora the Alexandria ad the Medina. Our group dined in the Medina restaurant. The food was presented well and the service in the restaurant more than made up for the overall dinning experience.
We took part in the traditional afternoon tea onboard in the Alexandria Restaurant. The restaurant had a very middle eastern design to match the Name. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea, with strong pots of tea and freshly made scones, with whipped cream and jam and little sandwiches for those who weren’t into the scones.
The Orangery which serves buffet-style breakfasts, lunches and casual afternoon tea.
The Café Bourdeaux serves informal bistro dinners and has the best Coffee on the ship.
The Pennant Grill serves grilled delights and is on the upper outdoor deck, small and intimate.
Entertainment
Every night there are two shows on offer one for the early diners and one for the late diners. The first night we were onboard we were treated to an Indigenous show with Aboriginal dancers. The next night we were entertained by an English Comedian, who picked on us for being Aussies and we didn’t understand his jokes, boom, boom!!
Later that night we went into the disco for a dance and a cocktail, the DJ Played what ever we liked.
Activities onboard
There is a range of activities onboard to suit everyone, from tennis to the golf simulator, basketball and of course shuffle board. Inside activities, dancing, cards, lectures, bingo, pilates and quizzes. I joined in with the acting workshop and found out I had heaps of potential....
Overall
The Aurora definitely has an old age cruising feel with very wide timber decks, and a feel of spaciousness. The interior was elegant with a modern feel without being too glitzy. Very easy to get around, the only tricky bit was getting up to a gorgeous bar called the Crows Nest right up the front of the ship with the best view. You can sit on the comfy leather lounges and sip your cocktails and listen to a quartet play. On formal nights the attire is very strict and the bar will only let gentleman in with a shirt and tie.
Unfortunately we were unable to participate in Bingo or make any purchases onboard as were not in International waters. To make up for it I had a very relaxing 1 hour Sweedish massage.
