Climate

The UAE’s climate is dominated by its desert environment, with extreme summer heat and mild winters. From June to September, temperatures often exceed 40°C, with high humidity along the coast, making this period less ideal for outdoor activities. However, this season can appeal to those seeking luxury indoor experiences, as hotels and attractions offer off-peak discounts. In contrast, the cooler months from November to March are much more comfortable, with temperatures between 24-30°C, making it the peak tourism season. During this time, visitors can fully enjoy outdoor activities like desert safaris, sightseeing, and cultural festivals. For the best balance of weather and experiences, winter is the ideal time to visit.

Capital Cities

Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the UAE, is located on an island in the Persian Gulf, just off the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Known for its impressive skyline and rich cultural heritage, Abu Dhabi has transformed from a small fishing village into a modern metropolis over the past few decades. Visited for business and pleasure alike, Abu Dhabi has plenty to offer anyone who visits – best known for landmarks such as the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the opulent Emirates Palace, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, visitors can enjoy a range of activities no matter how much time you have in the city.

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

The United Arab Emirates has undergone an impressive transformation over the last hundred years, turning from a sand-dusted nation of desert outposts to a glittering economic hub. While visiting the UAE can be an incredible experience, there are a few things you should know to make your trip more pleasant:

  • Dress Conservatively – The United Arab Emirates is primarily an Islamic nation, and the nation’s culture is strongly rooted in this faith. Due to this, we recommend dressing conservatively while visiting – choose clothing that covers the tops of your arms and legs and goes down to your knees and avoid anything short or revealing.
  • Double-Check Your Medication – The UAE has some of the world’s strictest measures on drugs, and some over-the-counter medications (such as those with Codeine) are not necessarily allowed and could get you arrested for possession. We strongly recommend carefully checking with the UAE consulate before travelling, and ensuring you have your prescription with you.
  • Be Appropriate in Public – Beyond strict rules on dress codes, the UAE also has strict rules on PDA in public, and anything more than holding hands in public can get you arrested. There are also certain rules regarding sharing hotel rooms, so ensure you ask your Travel Agent regarding these rules before heading off.
  • Bring Extra for Tipping – While tipping is not expected in the UAE like it is in other nations, it is common practice to do so, so ensure you bring extra cash with you to tip your servers and the staff that assist you while on holidays. Adding 10% to the bill when eating out is appropriate, while you can round a taxi fare up to the nearest 5 dh and tip your bag carriers 2 dh.
  • Refrain From Alcohol – While alcohol is served in the UAE, it’s only permitted within licensed hotels and pubs, and you can be arrested for drinking or being under the influence in public. If you choose to drink while in the UAE. we recommend drinking in your hotel room, or drinking sparingly when you’re out to avoid any issues.
