Celebrating 35 Years of Pulse Travel


This year we’ll be celebrating 35 years of Pulse Travel. A milestone that is a real testament to our loyal clients, preferred suppliers and of course our dedicated team of experienced travel consultants. Over the years, Pulse Travel has built a strong reputation in both leisure and corporate travel management, that now proudly spans across Australia from our beginnings in Brisbane.

Our Beginnings

Our story began back in 1989 when co-founder, Anthea Klinakis, was ready to take the natural next step in her career. After a successful near decade of managing travel for National Australia Bank, Anthea saw an opportunity to open an agency of her own in the inner-city suburb of West End, Brisbane. With the support of her husband and co-founder, Stan Klinakis, they opened the doors to South Brisbane Travel on the eclectic Boundary Street back in April, 1989. Stan and Anthea’s tailor-made travel advice, coupled with their warm and friendly service, was very much welcomed by the West End and wider-Brisbane community.

Growing Up

Following many long days and late nights, business continued to boom. The dynamic duo soon became Stan and Anthea, plus her sister Maria, his sister Koula, and Susan Sherrington, who is still one of our valued team members to this day – an incredible 32 years later. Come 1998, their humble office was bursting at the seams, and it was time for a move across the street to house their growing team. It quickly became apparent that demand for their services spanned far beyond South Brisbane, so this called for a rebrand to better highlight what this small, but mighty, company was all about. In theme with this electrifying period of growth, South Brisbane Travel became Pulse Travel.

And the growth didn’t stop there. As the way we travel has evolved, so too has Pulse Travel. Experienced travel consultants joined the team, new clients came on board and our services still continue to evolve with technology and the ever-changing needs of our clients. All these decades later, we’re still proudly privately-owned in West End, now with a dynamic team of 20 whose nimble, customer-first approach to travel sets us apart from the rest.
